Our History
How Four Star Insurance Got Started

The Four Star Insurance Agency Inc. was founded in 1954 by Charles J. Germana. It was incorporated in 1958. The original concept was for Charles J. Germana and his three brother-in-laws to contribute to the agency. Charles J. Germana was the property and casualty manager, Sam Zito who was an accountant and office manager, and John and Angelo Zito who were debit life insurance men would work part time as agents for property and casualty while staying with Sun Life of America full time. They were the original four stars. The Company logo then as well as today, is a Flag with four stars signifying: Quality, Low Cost, Dependable, Service.

 

The current owner of the agency are the two sons of the founder, Charles M. Germana, is president, and Joseph T. Germana, is vice president.  Management of the agency's personal lines is the founder's grandson Paul C. Germana, and commercial insurance is managed by Craig Czepczynski


In the Community

Chuck Germana is very involved with Civic activities in the Parma area. He is past president of the Proud of Parma committee, and the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce, former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 358 and Asst. Scout Master of Troop 263, past president of the Valley Forge High School Adult Boosters, and is active with church activities at St. Bridget of Kildare Parish. Chuck is past president of the Cuyahoga County Insurance Board, belongs to the Big I, and the Insurance Board of Northern Ohio. He has been awarded SAFECO's Award of Excellence Agent (twice), and Man of the Year by the Insurance Women of Cleveland. He served six years on the Cincinnati Equitable Agents advisory where he was president for two years. He has recently been reelected President of Council in the city of Parma a position he has served since 1992.  

 

Joe Germana has taken the lead in managing the agencies computerization and has had articles published in the Agency Automation Report and National Agena Users Group and Applied Systems User Group magazines. He has been active with the Applied Systems Users Group on a local and national level. He was elected to a three-year term as Region 2 Director (the largest region including 9 states east of the Mississippi). He is the current President of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of ASCNet (Applied Systems Users Group) for which he has served as an officer since 1989 and is an active participant in the ASCNet Newsgroups. He belongs to the major producer organizations and was recently reelected Secretary/Treasurer of the Insurance Board of Northern Ohio (formerly Cuyahoga County Insurance Board), a position which he has held continuously since 1984.  Joe is also an officer with the Parma Area Morning Kiwanis and advisor to the Normandy High School Key Club.  Joe is also serves as the business manager of the Parma Symphony Orchestra, where he is also an Oboist and English Horn player.

 

Four Star Donates to Veterans Memorial Park

Four Star Insurance Agency (In cooperation with Safeco Insurance Company)

has donated a 400 square foot lighted baseball sign to the City of Parma

that was installed and used at the Veterans Memorial Park for use with the city

recreation and school baseball program.


 

Four Star Insurance is a participant as a team in the Parma Area

"Relay for Life" and has raised over $7,000 for the American Cancer

Society over the last few years with our "Deal or No Deal Booth".
